Your Future Team – Holidu Guests (Companion)

Join the Companion team within the Guest Experience department led by Robin Müller (VP Engineering) and Konstantin Pasko (Head of Engineering).
This vibrant team oversees the entire post-booking experience for our cherished guests, including the full functionality of Holidu mobile apps. Comprising a diverse group of engineers (Backend, Frontend, iOS and Android), the team also includes a ​Product ​Owner, ​Designer, QA ​Manager, and ​Engineering ​Manager.

The team are based in Central Munich and gets together 2 or 3 times a week in the office however you will be able to work and travel for up to 2 months in the year.

The Tech Stack:

• Backend tech: Java 11 and Kotlin, using Spring Boot.
• Deployment: Microservices on AWS-based Kubernetes cluster (EKS).
• Data management: PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch 7, Redshift (within a data lake framework).
• Communication: Event-driven via ActiveMQ.
• Systems: Kafka for streaming and queuing.
• Tools: Heavy reliance on AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Git.
• Monitoring: ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, AWS Cloudwatch, Looker, and in-house technologies.

Although this is an extensive list, if you do not possess experience in all of these, do not hesitate to apply.

Your Role in their Journey:

• Play a pivotal role in enhancing Holidu’s guests' post-booking journey, ensuring a seamless and delightful experience after confirming bookings, and extending support during their travels.
• Forge collaborations across various teams, ensuring optimal and efficient solution delivery.
• Drive design, implementation, progression, and maintenance of Java backend services within the team.
• Engage comprehensively in software development – from ideation to release and monitoring.
• Spearhead the rollout of features that touch millions monthly.
• Devote efforts to crafting impeccable, highly available APIs for end-users and ensure system scalability.
• Head pivotal, team-centric projects, discerning opportunities, setting and maintaining quality benchmarks, guiding engineers, and partaking in recruitment for new engineering talent.
• Shape engineering objectives in tandem with product and engineering managers.
• Influence backend technology choices and handle the team’s backend-related backlog.
• Interested in Cloud? Take charge of its design, and integration with AWS, while overseeing cost-efficiently internally allocated resources.
• Keen on Elasticsearch? Dive deep into the company’s self-sustained ES cluster. Engage directly with Terraform internals.
