Head of Product Design

We are proud to partner with a market leader within the iGaming industry, looking for a Head of Product Design to lead a new, exciting vertical working on greenfield projects. Reporting to an impressive CPO, they are well known for providing reliable, cutting edge products used by millions of people worldwide.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead a team of product designers and graphic artists to drive new designs, concepts, and flows that fit our business requirements and delight end users with the best possible experience.
- Mentor, build, and guide your team of product designers. This leadership style includes design leadership where you are setting standards for designs and approaches that the team can easily consume and apply to their daily practices to excel and grow.
- Provide detailed feedback and work to iterate concepts that need work together with your team of product designers. In some cases, this will be high level where you can talk through your feedback and continue progressing – in other cases, it may require you to jump in and provide examples, details, or actively participating to assist. Feedback is , particularly vital in cases where it may affect the dependencies and connected interaction designs.
- Work closely with the product team to help conceptualise and iterate new designs for customers. While the role’s primary focus will be to execute and iterate through designs and prototypes, your input as part of the initial creative process is valuable. This will include participating in design reviews, team meetings, and brainstorming sessions.
- Meet with product, business analysis, and development teams to discuss the designs and prototypes. While these can ultimately help aid define the specification, building the products may require clarification and assistance, particularly if the development team is replicating challenging design patterns, animation sequences, and transitions.
- Assist the product and business analysis teams with questions about the designs and to help guide the specifications. This will require flow and scenario testing, which may require revisions to the designs for edge cases.
- Present concepts clearly, concisely, and effectively to the team and to stakeholders.
- Adjust designs based on feedback from stakeholders or from broader technical challenges, constraints, or limitations that may arise during the production process.
- Prepare tidy, thoughtful, and well-structured source files for development and supervise their implementation to ensure they are delivered according to the original vision.
- Where possible, take new design solutions and bring them to life by creating mobile and desktop prototypes. Those will be used to get a sense of how they will function in practice, help solve animation and interaction sequences and foster critical fine-tuning feedback from stakeholders. While static images give a great impression of the functionality, seeing it in action is even more valuable.
Strategic Responsibilities
- When executing designs, you need to consider how it fits within the broader system and how we may want to address other areas for consistency. This needs to be a measured and phased approach with a thoughtful application of prioritisation to address matters now versus later.
- Keep an eye on broader design trends and tools, especially within the gaming and entertainment spaces, to ensure that we are keeping up with best design practices and exceeding customer expectations.
- Provide thoughtful, considered feedback on the overall roadmap and user experience strategy.
Key Experience Areas
- You must be completely proficient with design tools such as Figma or Sketch.
- You should have a clear understanding of usability, user-centred design, and web standards.
- You should be very comfortable with prototyping. Extremely high-fidelity prototyping using advanced tools like Origami Studio is a big advantage.
- Working knowledge of Adobe’s Creative Cloud Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator is advantageous.
- Having the ability to delve into graphic design, motion graphics, animation, or video outside of product and UI design is a plus.
- Ideally you will have some technical background or knowledge. Understanding how developers build the interfaces and the challenges they face is tremendously valuable when designing solutions. Having the ability to code in HTML or CSS is advantageous.
