hen I was made aware of the opportunity with Zeren, I was in a very comfortable position and not actively looking. I ran a successful desk, worked with great colleagues, and had a loyal client base after working in Technology recruitment for almost seven years, I was in a stable environment. However, this also meant that the opportunity to grow, both personally and professionally was lacking and the opportunity to hear more about an executive search firm, partnering with high-growth start-up businesses on the tech scene was too exciting to miss out on.
As recruiters, we tend to receive a lot of InMails about ‘amazing’ opportunities, however, very few of them are true to the word. Zeren, as I’m quickly realising, is not one of those opportunities. I always judge a business by the leadership team and how they package their proposition to the incumbent, both of which were spot on with Zeren – transparent, confident and detail-oriented.
When I first met Chris Batters – Senior Director of Technology, his vision and plan for the Technology and Products really aligned with my own and it felt like a great fit from the start. He walked me through the current team structure, strategy for the next few years and how I’d be able to add value. It was clear to me that Zeren was an ambitious business that was experiencing hyper-growth and therefore, a perfect fit for me.
I also had the opportunity to meet a lot of the leadership team at Zeren, including, Chris Preston (CEO), Tom Pearce (Director – Marketing) & Jennifer Brook Botfield (Director – Interim Solutions) as part of the interview process, and the team’s diversity, industry experience, expert recruitment knowledge, and processes with clients and candidates really stood out.
Leveraging on my seven years of expertise in the Infrastructure and Security market, my role at Zeren will be to lead and grow the Infrastructure & Security practice – with Cloud, DevOps, Core Infrastructure and IT Security falling under this portfolio. I will be partnering with high-growth, scaling businesses going through digital transformation, to build exceptional leadership teams.
Here I am now, excited, and ready to help grow the Technology function. So, rather than asking myself ‘Why I joined Zeren?’ – I ask myself ‘Why wouldn’t I join Zeren?!’
