My Career So Far…
I am excited to have recently joined the Technology team at Zeren, having over 4 years of experience recruiting in the Software Engineering space, specifically focused on the London market and across the UK. Over my career, I have built-up a specialism with placing Mid-to-Senior level Ruby, Java and Golang Software Engineers into VC-backed and PE-owned start-ups and scale-ups, most of which are in the high-growth Technology space.
During that time, I was able to carve-out a successful niche vertical, with several returning clients and candidates alike. What has always attracted me to this proposition, is that it felt achievable to know every client and candidate within that select niche. I enjoyed being able to discuss the mutual connections I had with people; mapping out the landscape of the UK Software Engineering community, and providing truly informed, expert knowledge of the Software Engineering market to everyone I worked alongside. Not just that, I prided myself on client delivery and transparency as well as candidate experience.
So, Why Zeren?
Having spoken to a select number of companies during my search for a new role, it was clear that the post-COVID Tech Recruitment world is crying out for a search partner like Zeren. Particularly in the competitive Software Engineering space, within which I reside, VC/PE-backed start-ups and scale-ups need to attract the best talent possible in order to continue on their growth journeys. The data-driven approach that Zeren offers, particularly through Research support, involving Target Landscapes and the in-depth Market Intelligence provided to their clients, as well as regular and informed correspondence, is the only way to get the best results in this market. For that reason, I could see a sharp upwards trajectory for Zeren, and was very keen to be on that journey with them.
Beyond that, I was naturally impressed by the client portfolio that Zeren have built, and the relationships they have nurtured since they were established in 2018. The warm conversations and genuine ‘partnership’ mindset that came through, and, also, their relationship with the wider Renovata platform, was an attractive and intriguing proposition.
Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, I was incredibly impressed by the people that I met during the interview process. Chris Batters and Chris Preston set out a clear vision for the direction of the Tech Team and Zeren respectively, and both gave me confidence that there was an opportunity to have a large and long-lasting impact within that. I felt that they could support me in areas I want to improve, and take my career to a new and exciting level.
What am I Going to be Doing?
My responsibility is to partner with high-growth, technology businesses in their team-build-outs of Software Engineers across the UK. As already alluded to, this is an extremely competitive market than it has been previously, and I aim to embed myself as much as possible with clients to ensure that I can deliver sustainable success for their hiring goals.
